Hot Start for Eagles Inline!

KMC Eagles Inline team practicing in the "Shed".

May the "fourth" be with the Longhorn II as the Eagles Inline team skated out strong with a 10-6 win for their first game!!!

The Eagles have had 2 practices before this game, but it was hard to tell watching them as they played quite fluidly! Bob's was a big change in pace for them compared to the concrete floor they have been practicing at Josh Krape's work. However, watching them play on Saturday we saw 11 players come together and work as a great team!

Tom Holmen took a shot that was tipped by a player allowing Brandyn Shelly to get the puck rolling into the net within the first minute of the game! Four minutes later at 4:23, Shelly scored again.

Pond Style 3-on-3 Tournament

Justin Bunton launching the puck out to Tom Holmen.

The Eagles had an amazing opportunity to have one last day of some good ole' ice hockey at this year's DPL 3-on-3 Tournament in Viernheim Eishalle.

For this tournament, the ice is split into three sections and there are two games played consecutively in the two far zones. All the players hang out and drink beer in the center zone. The games are played width wise with goalies on each end.

We sent 1 team this year consisting of: Justin Bunton, Tim Duffy, Eric Helgeson, Tom Holmen, Joshua Krape, Brandyn Shelly, the acquired dangler Jake Howell, and Chris Wurst. The Eagles came out strong and held 1st place in their group until the very end of regular play.

"Night of the Stars," was the title for this year's All-star game in Viernheim Eishalle, and they could not have picked a more perfect name as the best of the best came and played a game they love.

There were about 16 teams represented for each of the 2 games. (Division 3/4 & Division 1/2) They divided those 16 teams into 2 teams with about 2-3 players represented from each of the teams.

For the Division 3/4 game, the KMC Eagles sent Tom Holmen and Brandyn Shelly. For Division 1/2 game, the KMC Eagles sent Scott Zwiers, Shane Saum, and Tim Duffy.

2013 End of Season Party, #28 Retired - Scott Zwiers

Scott Zwiers has been an irreplaceable member of this hockey family and only 2nd Eagle to have his number retired.

End of Season Party = EPIC

The food was great...the beer was great...the Bistro took great care of us...the Eagles flocked with over 70 showing up to celebrate the end of another GREAT season!

Retirement of #28 - Scott Zwiers:

As some of the Eagles know, we are losing a long time pivotal piece in this great hockey organization. After much discussion, we have decided that Scott Zwier's contributions to this hockey family warranted him the greatest honor we could possibly give him by retiring his number, #28. His hockey resume more than shows that he is more than deserving of this great honor. Scott "Scotty" Zwiers is only the second Eagle to have his number retired only behind ...Read More

Practices:

We have a few options for practices depending on your guys interest.

Practice in K-town at the inline rink - It's nothing special, but it's close and fun to play at. It will on Fridays normally and it will cost 40 Euro between everyone playing. Seeing we don't normally lock these down every week, we just have everyone chip in. Here is where the rink is at: K-town Inline Rink 2. Practice in K-town with the K-town inline team. Same idea, except we practice with the K-town team and we pay a little bit less...like 2 euro a person depending. Last year, we played in Josh Krape's warehouse right outside of Ramstein's LVIS gate. Obviously it's free and it was a great ti ...Read More

Eagles 3 Falls Out of DPL Playoffs

Both teams posing after a hard fought battle in Zweibrucken.

Eagles 3 had a tough game against Waldbronn Huskies for the 2nd round of the playoffs. The boys had some nice shot on goals but could not get past the Huskies goalie as they fell 6-0. They managed to hold the Huskies scoreless almost the entire first period and fought hard the 2nd and 3rd period!

The Eagles 3 are done for this year, but the other teams better watch out next year!

Eagles 1 comes back, pulls away to make it to DPL Semi-Finals!

The Knights definitely gave the short bench Eagles a run for their money.

With only 8 total skaters this week due to TDY's/deployments (seven last week), Eagles 1 were the ones that came from behind this time.

Down 3-1 with 6 min to go in the 3rd period, they put 3 in the net in just 3 minutes to go up 4-3 with under 2 minutes left.

Just like last week's game, Heidelberg didn't give up and they tied it with 7 seconds left. The shoot-out took 9 shooters on each side to finally end it. It was one for books.

And also just like last week, this crucial game was decided by a shootout. The difference this time was that the shootout didn't end after just 3 shooters. It took 9 shooters before Anthony Aceto and the Eagles were able t ...Read More

Eagles Flock for 2nd Annual Cuddeback Memorial 5K

Over 40 Eagles and their families out there to honor their fellow fallen Eagle, Zac.

This year marks the two year anniversary of our fallen Eagle, A1C Zachary "Cudde" Cuddeback. He was killed serving his country the morning after one of our Eagle's practices during the shooting in Frankfurt.

We came out in full force today, with over 40 Eagles and their families out there to honor Zac during the 2nd Annual Cuddeback 5K.

Everyone was looking great in their jerseys and some of us even sporting our gear. Rich Ramos was in nearly all of his gear but skates; however, his son was completely "geared" up.

The Cuddeback banner was raised high and proudly carried by Collin Keller and Brian Leo. A personal friend of the Eagles, Luis Vasquez, proudly r ...Read More

There is one thing to say about E2, they have heart and fire and they showed that tonight against the Hornets. They fought hard and sadly fell to the Hornets, 4-1, in an game that no one could keep quiet.

This game showcased their love of hockey and their internal fight for a fallen Eagle they wished was still here to play along side them, Cuddeback!

Serge Palin was on fire in the net tonight and had some incredible saves! The lone goal was an incredible top shelf shot by captain Tom Holmen, who made the team and fans go wild as he worked his way through 3 defenders, all the while on a penalty kill!!

Most impressive play of the game was while the Eagles were on a p ...Read More
