E-1 Shootout Nail Biter Victory in Game 1

Brandon Martinez snipes a beautiful shot over the goalie's shoulder to win the shootout.

Due to short notice deployments, emergency TDY's, and medical flights by players proudly serving their country, our Eagles 1 was only able to piece mail 7 total skaters for their 1st game of the DPL playoffs.

Those seven warriors left all they had in them on the ice as they pulled off a nail biter 4-3 shootout victory over Heidelberg. I am sure they slept good last night!

The game started off pretty even as both teams were charging up and down the ice, but all their shots were thwarted by both "hot" goalies Justin Bunton from the Eagles and Falko Liebing from Heidelberg. The game was scoreless going into the second period.

Finally, Nate Quirt was able to s ...Read More

Eagles 2 had a great start on their playoffs with a BIG W-I-N!!

Moments after the start of the game on the first line shift Alex Miller shouted, "Off to a fantastic start eagles!" And was he right when Bill Friedline scored over the left leg pad! The Hornets did manage to get a goal but Andy Halldin made sure they knew E2 meant business with his top shelf goal. E2 was not done showing the Hornets how its done when Brian Hanover also had a top shelf goal. The end of the first E2 had them 3-1!

During the first intermission, Keller boasted, "That's some Eagles hockey today!" Was he right when Chris Wurst fired off a blistering 5 hole slapper from the point!...assisted by Ha ...Read More

5-Peat Armed Forces Europe Ice Hockey Champs!

Eagles 1 wins big as they are now 5-peat Champions!

Each year in the home of the 1936 Winter Olympic Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the United States Armed Forces in Europe hosts an electrifying hockey tournament. In 2013, 11 teams from around Europe comprised of U.S. and NATO military members traveled to the Olympia-Eissport-Zentrum to compete in the three day tournament for the much sought-after Championship Cup.

This year, just weeks before the tournament, coaches were notified that funding would not be available as it had been in previous years for the tournament. Players and coaches rallied together to ensure the long standing tradition of the military tournament would continue. The KMC Eagles' own Collin Keller and Eri ...Read More

Eagles 2 Armed Forces Tournament 2013 Journey

Eagles 2 gave the 5-peat Champions Eagles 1 their toughest challenge of the tournament.

Eagles 2 may have been up before the rooster crows this morning, but they didn't let that stop them from getting the first win of the tournament against the Stuttgart Mustangs!

The Mustangs had a chance to score when they were given a penalty shot, but thanks to Serge Palin, our amazing goalie, it was poked checked away. The first goal for the whole tournament and the one that put the Eagles on the score board was by Jake Curtis, and it was scored while we were on a power play and assisted by Alex Miller. The Eagles continued with the magic as Andrew Halldin scored with an assist by Tom Holmen after a beautiful top shelf shot. The Eagles were not finished, showing the Mustangs ho ...Read More

KMC 1 had a mediocre finish to their DPL regular season with a tie to the Baden Bruins 5-5; however, the tie was good enough to lock up 2nd place going into the DPL playoffs.

Eagles 1 Shuts Out Ludwigshafen

Glenn Bowersox launches the puck over the Ludwigshafen goalie in the final seconds of the game.

Eagles 1 came out for another super late night in Viernheim in hope to wake up super early Monday morning with the taste of victory and they did just that by shutting out the Ludwigshafen Scorpions 6-0. (Which definitely helped that early Monday go by way better)

The Eagles opened it up early with a trickling goal by Shane Saum. The scoring was quiet for while as Ludwigshafen's goalie was definitely standing on his head, keeping his team in the game until the middle of the 2nd period when Shane popped in another goal off of a beautiful deflection from the point.

A few minutes later, Chad Hayes slung one into the back of the net, which was followed shortly after by a close ...Read More

E-3 vs Mannheim Women's Team

A truly friendly game with lots of good memories.

Saturday night E3 boldly stepped up and played a bunch of 12-29 year old girls from Mannheim at the SAP arena.

In fact, the other team gave us their two best players because we were a little short handed.

We didn't really keep track of the goals scored, though one player WILL tell you he got a hattie and two assists but everyone only remembers him getting one crappy goal. We scored some goals sure, but the girls scored goals on Gabe Bjorkman in WAVES of two and three, OUCH!

In fact, it got so bad E3 traded keepers so we could have the first year net minder on our side. There was one penalty for the whole game, a terrible call against the Coach who knocked down th ...Read More

10 Skaters Strong, Eagles 1 Wins Big

Anthony Aceto carries the puck in front of the Export net.

Eagles 1 put up a strong performance against the Export Rangers Sunday night, improving to 4-1. They overwhelmed the Rangers with speed right out the gate and managed several scoring opportunities in every shift in the first period. The line of Leigh Gowie, Tim Duffy, and Chad Hayes scored a goal in each of their first three shifts of the night and the Eagles went into the second period up by a score of 4-0. The Rangers employed a classic European technique looking for stretch passes and breakaways with little success. A few snuck through the cracks but were thwarted by the wall Ryan "Flanny" Flanagan constructed between the pipes. Glenn Bowersox popped in 2 goals, "Duff" 2, Chad 2, ...Read More
